Whatever photo software you choose to use with the photos you take on your Nikon D3100, D5100, or D7000, you can take the following approaches to downloading images to your computer: Connect the camera to the computer via a USB cable. The USB cable you need is supplied in the camera box. Use a memory card reader. Nikon’s SnapBridge app for iOS and Android is the fastest, easiest way to get your photos out of your camera and into the world using a compatible smart device. It’s also an exciting new way to take pictures with a Bluetooth/Wi-Fi ® enabled Nikon camera. I recently bought a Nikon d3100 dSLR camera, and I'm really enjoying it. I'm just sort of confused about how to download the images I've taken onto a computer (I have a Mac). The camera didn't come with a cord to download the images, so I was wondering if someone could tell me how to transfer the images onto my Mac. It's my first dSLR, so I'm a little new to this. Any help is greatly appreciated! The dCables® USB Cable for the Nikon D3100 is used to download the pictures from your Nikon D3100 to your computer. It will work with both PC and Mac! We Make Connection Easy dCables® offers the world's largest selection of digital camera cables.

How to upload pictures from a Nikon D3100 to your computer?

There are two ways;

Mac

1) Plug the camera's USB cord into one of the computer's ports.

2) Use a card reader (built-in or USB).

Either works well, with the card reader being, perhaps, a little faster, and neither is wrong if it works for you.

You have two options.

Nikon D3100 Firmware Download

1. You can use the USB cable that comes with the Nikon D3100. Plug the small end of the USB cable into the mini USB port on your camera (behind the small plastic door on the left side of the D3100) and plug the other end into a USB port on your computer/laptop.

2. Simply take your SD card out and insert it into a card reader (which you can buy at almost any store that sells electronics) and plug the card reader into a USB port on your computer/laptop. I personally like this method because it tends to upload images faster than the alternative.
